1ST - 5TH GRADE
ELEMENTARY
Education is a life-long process that includes developmental goals and milestones along the journey.
FOUNDATIONS
We build a solid academic foundation through a rigorous, well-rounded curriculum designed to engage young learners and spark critical thinking. With small class sizes and dedicated teachers, students receive the support they need to excel.
FAITH
At Parkway Christian Academy, faith shapes the way we teach and lead. Biblical principles are integrated into every subject, helping students grow spiritually while developing strong character and a love for learning.
FUTURE
Our goal is to prepare students for long-term success—academically, socially, and personally. Through enriching instruction and purposeful learning experiences, we equip students with the skills and confidence to thrive in the next stage of their education.

-
In Mathematics, students from 1st through 5th grade are equipped with foundational skills such as number sense, addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and an understanding of place value. As they progress, students explore geometry, fractions, measurement, and problem-solving, all while incorporating STEM activities. The math curriculum integrates biblical principles, highlighting the order and logic created by God in the universe with use of BJU Press curriculum.
-
The ELA/Reading program focuses on building strong language skills from early phonics to reading comprehension, vocabulary, grammar, and writing. Students are exposed to various genres such as animal tales, biographies, fables, and Scripture, allowing them to develop critical thinking skills while grounding their literacy journey in a Christian worldview. Writing skills are reinforced through creative, opinion, and narrative writing projects, with an emphasis on sentence structure and grammar. In the elementary grades, Parkway primarily uses the BJU Press curriculum, with some Abeka curriculum incorporated in the earlier grades.
-
Science explores life, earth, and physical sciences through hands-on activities that promote inquiry and curiosity, all viewed through a biblical lens. Students learn about God’s creation and develop scientific literacy while investigating topics such as ecosystems, space, weather, and matter. The curriculum encourages students to connect their understanding of the world around them with their Christian faith, recognizing God as the Creator. Elementary classes use the BJU Press curriculum to support this learning.
-
In Social Studies, students develop an understanding of geography, history, government, and community through both global and national perspectives. They explore American history, world regions, and cultural geography, gaining insights into family, citizenship, and the role of the Christian faith in shaping society. Activities emphasize research, critical thinking, and analysis of historical events. Elementary classes use the BJU Press curriculum to support this learning.
-
Bible instruction focuses on foundational biblical knowledge and character development, guiding students through Scripture and Christian living. They study key biblical themes, including the life of Jesus, salvation, and spiritual disciplines such as prayer and worship. The curriculum encourages students to apply biblical teachings to everyday life, nurturing their spiritual growth and understanding of God’s Word. Elementary Bible classes incorporate a blend of Positive Action for Christ and BJU Press curriculum to provide a comprehensive biblical education.
-
Enrichment programs, including art, music, STEM, physical education, and library/reading time, complement the core subjects. These areas of instruction help to fully develop each student’s educational experience and nurture their creativity, physical health, and love of learning.
