The Kindergarten (K5) program at Parkway Christian Academy offers a well-rounded, Christ-centered education that fosters spiritual, academic, and social growth. It combines Abeka and Bob Jones University Press curricula, along with enrichment in art, music, STEM, physical education, and library time, ensuring a holistic and engaging learning experience.
ROOTED IN CHRIST
At Parkway Christian Academy, our Kindergarten program is rooted in Christ and designed to nurture a love for learning from the very beginning. Each subject is taught through a biblical worldview, helping students grow both academically and spiritually. We lay a strong foundation where faith and learning go hand in hand.
GROWING IN KNOWLEDGE
We combine trusted curriculum with enriching activities to create a dynamic learning environment grounded in a biblical worldview. Students participate in hands-on experiences that bring lessons to life. This sparks curiosity, deepens faith, and fosters meaningful academic growth.

-
In Bible, the Exploring God’s World curriculum is intentionally grounded in a Christ-centered, biblical worldview. It helps students see their place in God’s redemptive story by introducing key biblical characters and exploring how their choices reflect God’s purposes. Through this lens, students learn foundational truths rooted in Scripture and are encouraged to apply these lessons to their daily lives, always recognizing Christ as the foundation of their faith and understanding.
-
In Phonics, students begin by learning letter sounds and gradually progress to blends, one-vowel words, and two-vowel words, which they then use to form sentences they can read, comprehend, and discuss—all within the framework of a Christ-centered education. The coordinated Abeka worksheets not only reinforce these concepts through engaging exercises, but also support the development of vocabulary, listening skills, and the ability to follow directions, all while cultivating a love for learning rooted in the truth of God’s Word. As students solve puzzles and complete pictures, they are reminded that the order and structure of language reflect the creativity and design of our Creator, with Christ as the foundation of all knowledge.
-
In Writing and Penmanship, students apply the fundamentals of phonics to practice proper manuscript letter formation, recognizing that clear communication is a gift from God. With Christ as our foundation, this practice becomes more than skill-building, it becomes a way to honor Him through excellence and discipline. The curriculum provides corresponding worksheets for students to practice writing letters and words, supporting the development of their fine motor skills and handwriting in a way that reflects order, purpose, and the beauty of God’s design.

In Science, the curriculum introduces foundational concepts such as health, seeds, animals, the seashore, weather, and seasons through a Biblical worldview, with Christ as the foundation of all creation. Students learn that God, in His sovereign design, has a specific purpose for everything He has made, pointing to the wisdom and order found in Him. Through hands-on activities, students deepen their understanding of these concepts while being continually reminded that all scientific discovery ultimately points back to our Creator and reflects His glory.
-
In Social Studies, students explore basic geography, community helpers, and the beginnings of American history through the lens of a Christ-centered, biblical worldview. As they learn facts about various countries and cultures around the world, they are reminded that all people are made in the image of God and that His sovereign hand is over every nation. Fun, engaging activities help reinforce the geographical and cultural information they study, while grounding their understanding in the truth that Christ is the foundation of history, purpose, and human connection.
-
In Mathematics, kindergarteners learn essential math skills through hands-on experiences that build a strong foundation for future success—grounded in the truth that Christ is the source of all knowledge and order. Students develop their number sense and understanding of place value, progressing from manipulatives to more abstract mathematical concepts. As they learn to compare measurements, solve addition and subtraction problems, and identify dates and times, they are encouraged to see math as a reflection of God’s design and faithfulness. Through a biblical worldview, students come to understand that math is not only practical, but purposeful—equipping them to solve real-world problems in a way that honors Christ.
-
In Reading, books build upon phonics instruction with stories that feature one- and two-vowel words, allowing students to grow in their reading abilities while being rooted in a Christ-centered foundation. These stories not only help students practice reading smoothly and expressively, but also encourage them to engage with content that reflects biblical values and truths. Follow-up questions guide students in developing their comprehension skills, helping them think critically and biblically as they read and understand the world through the lens of God’s Word.

In Enrichment, students participate in art, music, STEM, physical education, and library/reading time—all within the framework of a Christ-centered education. These subjects are an essential part of their development, fostering creativity, physical growth, and a well-rounded academic experience that reflects the truth that every good gift, including our talents and abilities, comes from God. As students engage in these activities, they are encouraged to use their gifts for His glory, recognizing Christ as the foundation of all learning, creativity, and purpose.
